With classes both for children and adults, we have adapted, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) to account for all levels of disability. Using different circuits, each station either works on muscle control and strength or aerobic fitness. This method allows participants to work individually, in pairs or as a group to push their own ability whilst still working as a team.
Circuits can be adapted for wheelchair users and those using walking aids. The different stations allow us to adapt to the individual’s needs and work around any physical limitations. The changing activities also help with engagement and focus for those with learning disabilities such as autism or ADHD.
As well as fitness, the classes can also improve self-confidence, communication skills and team working. They are ideally suited for mixed ability, making it possible to bring along an able-bodied friend or relative to participate in the class
